Looking forward to playing with Here's The Steeple, here is a little insight into the Band.

We caught up with lead singer, Dan Walters to find out more about Here's the Steeple.

What is your background?

I've been involved in music for most of my life. I've sung in choirs since I was around 8 years old. I've picked up a few instruments, mainly guitar and piano, along the way, but I think my experience with choral music has been a really strong influence on my music and my approach to writing and arranging. I've performed with a load of groups and ensembles over the years, and I'm really happy that I have the chance to focus on my own music.

When did you get into music?

I've been performing for around 20 years now, but I think I first started getting properly hooked on music when I was in my early teens. I have very vivid memories of listening to artists like Green Day, Muse, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I played in a band with some friends and I think we learned most of the songs on the RHCP album Stadium Arcadium.

What has music provided you in your life?

I've gotten so much out of my involvement in music. For starters, I made most of my friends through music, either directly or indirectly. Even with friends who don't play an instrument, chances are we met through someone I met through a jam or at an open mic night, or through studying music at uni. On top of that, it's a really valuable creative outlet, and picking up a guitar is often just something to do during a quiet evening.

What was the last piece of music you listened too?

I've been listening to a lovely album called 'Raek mig Faklen' by the Danish folk band Basco. A friend stumbled across them and sent me the link.

What have you been working on ?

The band is getting ready to release an EP that we've been sitting on for a while, so we're looking forward to sending it out into the world. I recently showed some new songs to the band, and we're excited to get our teeth into them and to start playing them as a group.

You recently released your single high hopes, are there any other releases happening soon?

We're releasing our track 'Father's Son' as a single on Father's Day. There's also an EP release coming soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

What gigs have you got lined up?

It's a bit quiet at the moment, apart from the gig with Birds & Beasts, but the band have some plans in the pipeline that we're pretty excited about, and hopefully there'll be some more dates soon!
